Gina the robot, servers of the future?

Sam Yang, owner of Yip Hong’s Dim Sum noticed that when the pandemic began his business slowed down. Sam wanted to over come this challenge while keeping his customers and staff safe. He came up with a really unique to Saskatchewan idea, Gina the Robot. This helps to decrease the face-to-face interactions between staff and customers.

Gina Robot works like a normal server, people place their orders online through a QR menu, Gina then relays this information to the kitchen. Once the food is prepared, the kitchen staff place the food onto Gina’s serving tray and Gina brings the food to the customers, reducing the interactions between staff and customers. Gina has become a bit of an attraction at the restaurant according to owner Sam Yang, some people come not only for the great food, but to see Gina. Gina has received mostly positive responses but some customers till prefer the human interaction.

Gina was purchased from a company out of China, and was programmed in Regina.
